But it’s also true that if you keep at it, with the right combination of exercise and healthy eating, the extra fat will disappear.
Did you know, however, that there is a wrong way to work your abs? And that if you do it wrong, you can actually end up with abs that stick out, rather than get smaller?
Well, if you embark on your new exercise program without any guidance, you may end up doing it wrong. But if you walk into your local gym, the trainer or class instructor is going to tell you how to do it right. And monitor your progress to make sure you are doing it right and getting closer to your goal.
Your trainer at the gym is an expert. Someone who’s studied how the body works and maybe even someone who has his own story of weight loss or muscle toning.
But how is your online business like your belly fat?
Consulting with an expert to help you reach your goals is something you do every day. Whether it’s as informal as taking an exercise class at the gym, or a sewing class at the fabric store; or the more intentional act of going to the doctor to get healthy, or seeking out an accountant’s advice on how to handle your money.
Most of us routinely consult with experts and rely on their opinions. Which is why I am at a loss to explain the reluctance entrepreneurs have to rely on an expert to help them build their online business.
The prevailing attitude from those who have yet to develop a profitable online business is “I’ll invest money in my business once it starts making money.”
The fact is, your chances of making money in your online business are little to none unless you first invest in an expert to show you how. You need to hire an individual coach. Or, at least, get group coaching.
Did you say “I can’t afford it?”
I understand the cry of “but I don’t have any money to invest in my online business.” If that is really true, I mean really, then you should get a job and save some money before you start your business.
But, at the risk of offending, I am going to say that the “I don’t have any money” refrain usually means “I don’t recognize the value in spending money on that.” And if you are going to have a successful online business, the sooner you get it, the sooner you are going to start making money.
I disconnected my cable television, turned off my home phone, and re-negotiated my credit card debt to afford my first coaching. And it was worth it. Which means that it paid off – literally.
What if you’re a “do-it-yourself” kind of person?
I am a big fan of saying that you should “keep at it” when it comes to your online business. Just like you won’t lose that fat overnight, you won’t build a six-figure business overnight.
But, “keep at it” doesn’t mean keep doing it wrong. Trying to do it yourself won’t make you rich. It will likely make you broke. You’ll end up with a protruding stomach rather than washboard abs.
And you can’t keep trying to do it with the latest $47 or $97 product. Would you keep paying the same doctor for years even if that doctor didn’t cure what ailed you?
So why do you keep buying the latest “easy button” products even though they aren’t curing what’s ailing your online business?
I’m not trying to make you feel bad here, I did the same thing for years. And I so wish that someone had insisted that I hire a coach when I first started.
Make every financial sacrifice you can to afford the highest possible level of coaching you can. It will save you years of frustration. It will get your online business into the profit zone within a few months if you’re willing to do the work.
