Success Habits: What Your Life Says About Your Business

Running late to the gym, I cursed as I pulled into the parking lot and found no available spots.  It took a couple of minutes before it clicked for me. Of course, it’s January.  Everyone’s at the gym this month. I’ve been going to the gym for 20 years.  And year after year, it’s the same. Come January, the new year’s resolutioners are there in all their glory.  Some in new matching workout apparel.  Some unfortunately dressed as if they’ve already attained the body they envision in their new year’s resolution. As inconvenient as their presence is to me, I am happy to see them there.  Especially those who are at an unhealthy weight, and have now resolved to change that. Coming to the gym is a huge step.  Having the courage to go in the door is a huge step.  Investing your hard earned money in a gym membership is a huge step. For each person who walks in the door, there are thousands who just think about.  Who just realize they should do it.  And who just plan to do it when they get more time, or more money. Or it gets warmer, or colder.  Or, or, or . . . Unfortunately, by March, there will be plenty of parking spaces again. As predictable as the overcrowding every January is, is the fact that 99% of them will be gone within 3 months. Human behavior and the gym mirrors how many would-be entrepreneurs work.
